To be an impactful leader is to cultivate godly character.
To cultivate a godly character is develop the right mindset.
One thing you must remember and have an understanding of in the making of a leader and youth with a difference ,
Is that leadership is not about making everyone happy.
Most times as youths, there’s this pressure to be the influential one whether at the office, on campus or now adays at our fingertips- a social media Influencer, but of course that’s not bad itself as,
w𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 (𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞), 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨.
You can as well go sell Ice cream if the mindset you nurture as a leader in the making, is one that seeks to make everyone happy.
I once told a mentee, my aim of being on social media is not to become a social media influencer , the calling on my life is way higher than that!
𝐓𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐞 , 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐮𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬.
Until one is open to positive changes,
You can read all the inspirational books you find, listen to motivational talks or even move with a class of people but when faced with life challenges,
the real stuff you’re made of will easily surface.
So you see, it’s a personal responsibility to cultivate and continuously build the right mindset.
Ask yourself, as a personal brand (you are a brand) what are my convictions?
My values? What standards have I set for myself?
When others say “if you can’t beat them you join them”, would that be your saying as well? Or would you rather say,
“𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭!”
